Menjangan, inside the West Bali National Park, has the clearest and healthiest reef we snorkel anywhere around the island, and it is a long drive to reach it - which is exactly why it is still that good. Tanah Lot is much closer to the south and is an afternoon rather than a day: the sea temple on its rock, Taman Ayun on the way, and sunset.
