What You're Signing Up For

Timbis is a ridge on the south of the Bukit peninsula where the sea breeze hits a cliff and goes straight up. That makes it one of the most reliable coastal soaring sites in Indonesia, and it means a tandem flight here is not a five-minute glide down: pilots stay up for twenty minutes or more, working the ridge along the coast.

You are strapped to a pilot. You run four steps off the edge, the wing takes the weight, and then you are sitting in a chair two hundred metres above the water with nothing to do.

The Whole Thing

The site is a working paragliding club, not a theme park. Pilots are licensed, the wings are tandem-rated and checked, and flights only happen when the wind is right. That last part is the honest caveat: this is the one trip on the site that the weather can cancel on the day.

The Trip, Stop By Stop

Timings are typical, not fixed. Your guide reshapes the day around your pace and the conditions.

  1. Hotel pickup

    Canggu, Seminyak, Kuta, Jimbaran, Sanur, Nusa Dua

    Early afternoon, because the wind on this ridge sets in after lunch.

  2. Drive to the Bukit

    Forty minutes south to the cliffs above Timbis and Pandawa.

  3. Wind check and briefing

    The pilots read the ridge, fit your harness and explain the four steps off the edge.

  4. Launch

    You run, the wing lifts, and the ground stops being underneath you.

  5. The flight

    Fifteen to twenty-five minutes along the cliffs, depending on what the wind is doing.

  6. Landing and photos

    Back on the ridge, then the pilot's camera footage if you want it.

  7. Onward or home

    Uluwatu, Pandawa or straight back. No extra charge for the car either way.

Before you book

Who This Trip Isn’t For

We would rather talk you out of the wrong trip than take your money for it. If any of these apply, message us and we’ll suggest something that fits better.

Anyone over about 95 kg

Tandem wings have a certified maximum all-up weight. Tell us your weight when you book and we will confirm before you travel.

Anyone with heart, back or neck conditions

Launch and landing are both short, sharp movements. If you are unsure, ask your doctor rather than the pilot.

Anyone who cannot move the day

Wind decides this one. If you only have one afternoon left in Bali, book something the weather cannot cancel.

Come prepared

What To Bring

Closed shoes

You run off a cliff edge. Trainers with laces; flip-flops are refused at the launch and rightly so.

Long trousers or leggings

The harness straps sit on your thighs and the launch is over scrub. Shorts are allowed but less comfortable.

Sunglasses with a strap

It is bright, it is windy, and unsecured sunglasses end up in the sea.

Your weight, honestly

Tell the pilots the real number. Tandem wings are certified to a limit and this is a safety check, not a judgement.

Do I need any experience?

None. You are attached to a licensed pilot who flies the wing. Your entire job is to run four steps and then sit down.

How long is the flight?

Fifteen to twenty-five minutes on a normal day. Timbis is a soaring site, so pilots stay up rather than gliding straight down.

What if the wind is wrong?

The flight does not happen. We move you to another afternoon, or refund you in full. No pilot here flies a tandem in bad air.

Is there a weight limit?

Yes, around 95 kg all-up, depending on the wing and the pilot. Tell us your weight when you book so we can confirm it properly.

Can we add Uluwatu afterwards?

Yes, it is twenty-five minutes away and the timing works well with the Kecak dance at six. There is no extra charge for the car, only the tickets.
